The United Group of Automobile Importers, (known as GUIA), predicted that 2014 would be stable for auto sales in Puerto Rico.
2013 was a challenging year for the auto industry. Car sales dropped 11.3 percent in Puerto Rico. January of 2013 1,408 less units were sold compared to the same month in 2012.
GUIA is an organization that manages issues directly related to the automobile industry. GUIA members represent more than 96 percent of total new vehicle sales in Puerto Rico.
GUIA represents the automobile industry in Puerto Rico the organization is responsible for keeping the press and citizens informed about all topics pertaining the industry.
The group expressed their concerns over the effect of the national tax passed last year by the Treasury Department. GUIA said the additional tax will burden on the auto business altogether.
This year is predicted to increase in sales and be more stable than the rough past year the auto industry has had in Puerto Rico.
